Ann Kenny papers, 1942-

A typewritten transcription of a diary, 1942-1944, and a photograph of Kenny in her later years. The diary provides brief entries about her life and experiences at Avenger Field, Sweetwater, Texas including the airplanes, comments about her friends and instructors and fear of being "washed out" because she dislocated her shoulder. She describes the barbecue at the Double Heart Ranch, a visit from Miss Cochran and graduation day, September 11, 1943. Assigned to the Air Transport Command at Wilmington, Delaware, Kenney served only three weeks before being transferred to South Plains Army Air Field, Lubbock, Texas, to fly C-60s or Lockheed Lodestars. February, 1944, she was transferred to tow targets at Eagle Pass, Texas. She attended Officer Training School in Orlando, Florida, and later, survived a crash in Tennessee.
